Getting Everything Ready for a Great Event
With WWE SummerSlam 2024 drawing near, anticipation is growing. According to WrestleTix, the event will be held at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio this year. The stadium is expected to be crowded with up to 50,000 fervent fans. With seven exciting contests scheduled, including six title fights, this SummerSlam is promising to be an unforgettable event. Let’s explore the narratives and match predictions that have built up to this much-anticipated evening.
The Main Event: Solo Sikoa vs. Cody Rhodes
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will defend his title against Solo Sikoa of The Bloodline in the main event. Not only is the title on the line in this fight, but also The Bloodline’s power structure and Roman Reigns’ potential comeback.
Since Roman Reigns was pinned by Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, Solo Sikoa has taken control of The Bloodline and brought in new members such as Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa. Reigns has even been challenged by Sikoa to attend SummerSlam and accept him as the new leader. Due to WWE’s efforts to establish Sikoa as a legitimate danger to Rhodes, this encounter is incredibly unpredictable.
Foresee: Cody Rhodes
Despite the build-up, Rhodes is probably going to beat the competition and hold onto the crown. But be prepared for The Bloodline to attack him after the match. When it appears that Cody might sustain a serious injury, Paul Heyman might suddenly come, setting up an appearance by Roman Reigns. Solo and Fatu might flee if Reigns struck one or both of the Tongan brothers with a spear. This would be a scene from a movie, establishing themes for other stories.
Women’s World Championship: Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan
Liv Morgan has had an outstanding run as the Women’s World Champion ever since she defeated Becky Lynch at King and Queen of the Ring in 2024. One of the most interesting plots has been her rivalry with Rhea Ripley, which is entwined with a Dominik Mysterio love triangle.
Dominik brutally insulted Liv during a recent Monday Night Raw program, but there is conjecture that he may have purposefully cost Ripley the match. This might cause Judgment Day to seriously shatter.
Liv Morgan is the prediction.
Under Triple H’s creative guidance, WWE tends to tell slow-burning storylines, so SummerSlam may hint at Dominik’s betrayal but not fully reveal it. The Judgment Day will see its first significant rift when Morgan continues to hold her title.
World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther vs. Damian Priest
Fans have found resonance in Damian Priest’s journey from destitution to the title of World Heavyweight Champion. But Gunther poses a serious threat because of his unwavering domination and lack of regret in the ring.
Forecast: Gunther
Priest’s reign has been admirable, but “The Ring General” needs to win a world title. Gunther is a worthy champion who can further elevate the championship with his in-ring abilities and microphone skills.
Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk
A popular plot leading up to SummerSlam 2024 has been the feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. Punk has repeatedly screwed McIntyre over in the feud, which WWE Creative has maintained despite Punk’s injuries.
Drew McIntyre is my prediction.
Expect some antics to drive special guest referee Seth Rollins over the edge. Taking a cue from Bret Hart and The Undertaker’s 1997 SummerSlam encounter, Rollins might unintentionally knock Punk out and then begrudgingly count the pin for McIntyre. This result will make the plot more intricate, with Rollins’ contribution serving as the main focus.
WWE Women’s Title Match: Nia Jax vs. Bayley
Nia Jax poses a serious threat to Bayley’s title because of her domination and her partnership with Tiffany Stratton, dubbed “Ms. Money in the Bank.” Jax and Stratton’s relationship might make for interesting television, particularly if Stratton chooses to take advantage of her contract.
Forecast: Bayley
Even if a cash-in is possible, Bayley is probably going to win the title at SummerSlam. But for the next few months, Jax and Stratton will continue to pose a threat to her.
WWE United States Title Match: LA Knight vs. Logan Paul
Logan Drama is guaranteed when Paul defends his US Championship in his hometown. Paul is certain to get jeers, but there’s no denying his charm and storytelling prowess.
LA Knight is my prediction.
A singles title for LA Knight is long overdue. He’s the obvious pick to unseat Logan Paul in Cleveland because of his fan base appeal and his desire to become a prominent player.
WWE Intercontinental Championship: Bron Breakker vs. Sami Zayn
Although Sami Zayn’s triumph over Bron Breakker at Money in the Bank 2024 was contentious, Breakker’s reputation was unaffected. This is Breakker’s second opportunity to win the Intercontinental Championship. Breakker is a future world champion.
Suggested: Bron Breakker
Zayn has a ton of experience and a lot of respect from her fans, but Breakker is headed toward main event status. One of the most important steps in his path is winning the Intercontinental Championship.
