A Money in the Bank ladder match gives WWE’s men and women the chance to compete in a championship they might have otherwise spent their entire careers chasing.
WWE Superstars will have a chance to earn a guaranteed shot at a title of their choosing on July 1 at the O2 Arena in London. As part of the long history of the match, they will join CM Punk, The Miz, Edge, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, and Liv Morgan in making it big and becoming key figures.
A number of competitors have earned the chance to compete, but only one will be able to win each of the two namesake matches.
Money in the Bank: Men’s Choice
Some will see the ladder match as a chance to promote an underutilized star like Ricochet or LA Knight, rewarding them with a title shot that they should have received a long time ago.
Cody Rhodes is the only real contender to emerge victorious in 2023, which is truer to the bout’s original intention.
During WrestleMania 39, the American Nightmare failed to dethrone Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship due to interference from Solo Sikoa. It was therefore nearly impossible for him to return to that stage, against that opponent, as a result of the draft.
He could challenge The Tribal Chief in the main event of WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia if he wins the men’s MITB match.
As a result of Rhodes winning in London, the Royal Rumble will not be sacrificed to a repeat-winner scenario, and the 37-year-old will get his first major victory in a year when his most prominent performances have been losses.
It would also be a redemptive victory for him after he narrowly lost out to Damien Sandow in 2013.
Choosing a bank for women’s money
Zelina Vega defeated Lacey Evans to secure her ticket for the July 1 premium live event in the women’s MITB ladder match.
In Raw, Becky Lynch will face Sonya Deville, and Zoey Stark will face Natalya; in SmackDown, Shotzi will face Iyo Sky, and Bayley will face Mia Yim.
It becomes more difficult to predict who will leave London with the coveted briefcase if Damage CTRL’s demise and Lynch and Stark’s rivalry continue.
The question of who should do it is much easier to answer.
Her performance against Rhea Ripley in Puerto Rico was one of the most emotional and memorable of the Backlash card as an underdog.
Added to that, the Latino World Order has considerable popularity, which gives the 32-year-old every reason to prevail and win the title.
Due to her feud with Ripley and another opportunity to defeat The Eradicator of The Judgment Day, her win makes even more sense.
If you add the element of surprise and the chance to cash in whenever, you have a scenario that favors Vega and has the potential to become a WWE signature moment.
