The AEW boss admitted that “Darby Allin Frightens us”.
In a frank and open interview, A.E.W. Darby Allin, of The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson), has been a key figure in some of the toughest and most violent matches of 2024, pushing the boundaries of professional boxing and redefining the sport within the boundaries
The year has been no different for Darby Allin and The Young Bucks, who have been involved in three of the most offensive games to date. The first of these spectacles was the main event at AEW Revolution 2024, where Darby Allin and the legendary Sting defeated The Young Bucks and retained the AEW Tag Team Titles in Sting’s swansong The Tornado Tag Team Match is brutal, highlighted by Alien’s fearless dive through a glass pane It was done, leaving his back a bloody mess and the audience stunned into silence
Next up was AEW Double or Nothing, where Alien once again found himself in the middle of chaos in an arena match, this time as friends of The Young Bucks and the end of the match was as surprising as it was disastrous, Alien hanging on the rope of contempt, to sacrifice his body for pleasure and success A proof of his will
The most recent chapter in this saga of violence was the Blood & Guts tournament at AEW Dynamite in Nashville. The event saw Alien climb the cage above the ring and deliver a heart-stopping Coffin Drop through a table, among other high-risk moves that left fans breathless and beat his opponents
Matthew Jackson, who is not only a current AEW Tag Team Champion but also an Executive Vice President (EVP) of AEW, offered his insights into the wild and unpredictable nature of Darby Allin in a conversation with Sports Illustrated. Jackson recounted an astonishing tale from the day of the double cage match on Dynamite, illustrating Allin’s extraordinary fearlessness and audacity.
“Darby is out of his mind crazy,” Jackson said with a mix of admiration and concern. “When production lowered the cages earlier in the day to check everything, I heard Darby climbed to the top while he was wearing socks. He’s fearless. We’ve done some crazy things in our career, and even he frightens us.”
Jackson’s comments, while possibly laced with a touch of kayfabe, nonetheless underscore a genuine respect and a hint of trepidation towards Allin’s relentless pursuit of the extreme. Allin’s willingness to push himself beyond the brink has not only earned him a place in AEW’s pantheon of greats but has also made him a formidable and, at times, unsettling presence in the locker room.

The Blood & Guts match also set the stage for a dramatic new storyline as Darby Allin turned his sights on Jack Perry, another rising star in AEW. The match concluded with Team AEW handcuffing Perry of The Elite against the steel cage, a moment of raw tension that saw Allin douse Perry in gasoline, threatening to set him ablaze. This intense confrontation led to a crucial development: Matthew Jackson, in a desperate bid to save his teammate, conceded to Perry’s demand for a TNT Title match at AEW All In on August 25th.
This concession not only handed Team AEW the victory but also set the stage for what promises to be another electrifying encounter between Darby Allin and Jack Perry. As the anticipation builds for AEW All In, fans are left to wonder what further extremes Darby Allin will go to in his quest for glory and how Jack Perry will respond to the challenge.
In a sport where pushing the limits is a way of life, Darby Allin stands as a beacon of fearless dedication, continually redefining what it means to be a professional wrestler. His actions, while sometimes alarming, have earned him both respect and fear, even among the ranks of his fellow competitors and executives.
