The second annual AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door card continued to take shape on Wednesday’s edition of “AEW Dynamite,” as it planted seeds for a match for NJPW’s top title. On June 25, AEW aired a promo from current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA, who announced he would challenge anyone on the AEW roster to a match. Jungle Boy accepted the challenge later in the broadcast.

At Sakura Genesis on April 8, SANADA defeated Kazuchika Okada to win the IWGP world title.
