Considering My Exit from WWE
Mercedes Mone, who was formerly known as Sasha Banks when she worked for the WWE, has made a big name for herself in the pro wrestling industry. She recently spoke candidly about her personal journey after leaving WWE in 2022.
Divergences in Creativity and Departure
Following creative differences with Vince McMahon, Mone and Naomi left the WWE in 2022, the same year they were crowned WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Both wrestlers were given an extended suspension from WWE SmackDown as a consequence of this decision, which caused a lot of controversy and condemnation within the wrestling world.
Taking in Heart and Soul
In an open conversation with HOT97, Mercedes Mone revealed the key elements that contributed to her departure. Her choice was mostly influenced by her innate desire to follow her gut and maintain her integrity. Telling the story of what happened before she left, Mone said that one specific occurrence was the turning point that made her feel dejected and cut off from the organization she had spent 14 years of her life with.
“There are numerous reasons, but the most important thing is simply listening to my heart and soul,” she underlined. That day, something didn’t feel quite right. The way we were spoken to didn’t sit well with me, and I knew right away that I would never be happy there—talking to me the way they do or feeling like you don’t belong—if I didn’t take charge of my life right now.”
Defying Reality and Dreams in Combat
Choosing to leave WWE was definitely one of the hardest decisions she has ever had to make. Since she was eleven years old, Mone had dreamed of working in the WWE, where she experienced both highs and lows over her ten-year career. Mone acknowledged that quitting WWE eventually turned out to be a transforming and liberating choice, despite the grief involved.
“When I was ten years old, my ambition was to work for the WWE. Therefore, leaving that organization after ten years of employment was the toughest choice I have ever made in my life. However, looking back, it was the best choice I’ve ever made since it has led me to my current position as the TBS Champion and the highest-paid female wrestler in history.”
Gazing Forward
In response to rumors that she would make a comeback to the WWE in the future, Mone said that she was fully committed to her present career as the TBS Champion in AEW. Her current top goals are to succeed in her new position and carry on leaving a lasting impact in women’s wrestling.
The struggles of following one’s aspirations in the realm of professional wrestling, where self-respect, ethics, and enthusiasm often collide with industry expectations, are highlighted by Mercedes Mone’s path. Mone’s tale is a potent reminder of the benefits of following one’s inner guidance and creating a route that is consistent with one’s goals and beliefs, as she continues to flourish in her new chapter.
