Dasha is backstage with Matt Sydal, telling him that he has gotten every break he has gotten because he is unafraid to make a challenge. He has been on Samoa Joe’s heels, and tonight he will be the TV Champion.
Dasha then speaks with Samoa Joe, who says Sydal will find out what happens when ambition overrules common sense tonight.
With Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman, and Nigel McGuinness on the line, we cut to Universal Studios Orlando.
Samoa Joe retained the ROH World Television Title against Matt Sydal
To make this a solid opener, both guys worked hard and smart.
Then, Sydal throws a series of kicks and sends Joe out of the ring with a spin kick. Sydal followed Joe to the floor with a Meteora after Joe pulled him into a corner and clubbed him with forearms. Joe cut Sydal off with a back elbow and sent him over with a suplex.
A snap powerlam nearly took Sydal out of a headlock. Joe clubbed Sydal some more, talking trash to him as he laid into him. With chops, Sydal got a nearfall on a roll-up. Then he hit a jumping knee. Sydal went for a spin kick and just collided with Joe. In a pop-up powerbomb, Sydal reversed it with a hurricanrana. A high kick was hit by Sydal.
Sydal hit the Meteora in the ring, but unlike last week, it didn’t score the win. Sydal hit a point-blank knee to Joe, but he was cut off on his way to the top rope. Joe snatched Sydal into a Muscle Buster for the win. This was Joe’s 12th successful defense.
Deimos (w/Teal Piper) was defeated by Nick Comoroto
A chop to the throat sent Deimos to the stairs. It wasn’t long before Deimos took on Comoroto after some shenanigans with Comoroto’s sucker. Deimos hit a big bodyslam on Comoroto before hitting him with a shoulder block.
For a nearfall, Comoroto hit a reverse Death Valley Driver. Deimos fought out of another Fireman’s Carry and fired up with clotheslines. Deimos hit a big spinebuster followed by a big boot for a nearfall. Comoroto rolled to the apron and snapped Deimos over the ropes. With his feet on the ropes, Comoroto hit the Alabama Slam and clinched victory.
Dasha was backstage with the Varsity Athletes. Smart Mark Sterling says he got Tony Nese time in the ring to vent. I mean, he had time here. Is Dasha not good enough to hear Tony Nese’s thoughts?
The Iron Savages (Boulder & Bronson) defeated Rhett Titus & Tracy Williams
Bronson and Williams start off with forearms before Bronson takes control. Williams hits Boulder with an uppercut and armbar after Boulder tags in and avoids a corner charge. Titus tags in, but the Savages catch both men in Gorilla Press slams. Titus caught Boulder with a move and tried to pin him, but Boulder kept pressing him to kick out.
In order to get a nearfall against Bronson, Titus hit a belly-to-belly suplex on him. Boulder tagged in and hit both opponents with big slams. Bronson broke up the fall after Titus and Williams avoided the double chokeslam. Although Bronson fought off both men, Titus and Williams hit a Hart Attack.
Bronson hit a Rikishi Driver to Titus on top of Williams after Boulder blocked a Williams piledriver. The Iron Savages hit their tag team senton to claim the victory.
Dasha is backstage with the Workhorsemen. Their business was affected by FTR a few weeks back. FTR isn’t here, but their friend Mark Briscoe is, so Henry confronts him.
Teal Piper (with Deimos) was defeated by Diamante
Diamante caught Piper in the ropes and hit a neckbreaker, then droppedkicked him off the apron. In the corner, Diamante hit a hesitation dropkick.
As the crowd booed, Diamante hit a crossface forearm to Piper. Piper fought back with a penalty kick and a sidewalk suplex. Before locking in the submission, Diamante caught Piper and hit a Cross Rhodes.
– The Varsity Athletes come out. Nese takes the microphone as promised earlier and says that they have worked hard to earn the respect of the fans. According to Nese, the fans do not respect them because they cannot relate to them. As Serpentico makes his way out for his scheduled fight, the Varsity Athletes decide to lead group exercises to ensure the Varsity Athletes will never be fat pigs like the crowd.
