Before her revolutionary wrestling career, Trish Stratus was following a completely different trajectory. Starting as a fitness model, she managed to balance her biology studies while dreaming of becoming a doctor. However, destiny took a hand when she stepped into the realm of wrestling. Stratus made her first appearance in WWE as a villainous valet for Test and Albert on “WWE Sunday Night Heat” in March 2000. Her charisma quickly captured viewers, leading her to eventually enter the wrestling ring and kickstart a career that would revolutionize women’s wrestling.
Stratus had her first in-ring appearance in June 2000 on “SmackDown” in a tag team contest. With Test and Albert by her side, she went up against Lita and the Hardy Boyz. This competition sparked a rivalry with Lita, who was her closest friend, which went on to be one of the most well-known conflicts in WWE history. The pair proceeded to be the main attraction on an episode of “WWE Raw” in 2004, a history-making moment for female wrestling. Stratus kept showing her skills by winning her initial WWE Women’s Championship at Survivor Series in 2001.
Stratus reached the peak of her career in 2006 by claiming her last Women’s Championship with a victory over Lita in front of her local fans in Toronto. Fans believed her retirement as champion was a suitable conclusion to her legendary career.

After retiring in 2006, Stratus continued to be in the public eye, but she shifted her attention to business and her family. Stratus, who is married to her long-term partner Ron Fisico, fully embraced motherhood while also immersing herself in her business ventures. One of her initial business ventures involved starting Stratusphere Yoga, an environmentally-conscious yoga studio located in Toronto. In 2009, the studio received many praises, such as the Top Choice Award for Best New Business. In 2010, Stratus received the title of Business Woman of the Year for her achievements. Despite shutting down in 2015, her yoga business continues to thrive thanks to her DVDs, which can still be purchased on sites such as Amazon.
In addition to yoga, Stratus broadened her brand by introducing “nuTRISHion,” a section on her website featuring recipes and wellness advice. Her entrepreneurial drive continued as she collaborated with the Canadian sock brand SOXOS for a holiday collection in 2023. Despite her initial passion for wrestling, Stratus also aimed for a career in Hollywood post-WWE. In 2008, she presented “Stratusphere,” a travel program shown on the Travel + Escape network. The program depicted her travels to various countries and engagement in diverse cultural activities and sports, from reindeer races in Norway to martial arts in India.
Her venture into the world of acting didn’t end at that point. Stratus entered the film industry with her first role as a bounty hunter in the 2011 action film Bail Enforcers. Although the movie didn’t make a significant impact at the box office, it signified Stratus‘ official move into acting. In 2022, she continued to advance her acting career by securing a part in the holiday film Christmas in Rockwell. Due to her various abilities, she was a good fit for television and was also a judge on Canada’s Got Talent with Howie Mandel and Lilly Singh.
Hall of Fame of WWE
In 2013, WWE recognized Stratus and inducted her into the Hall of Fame, awarding her one of its prestigious honors. Stephanie McMahon personally inducted her, demonstrating her impact on women’s wrestling and her relationship with the WWE leadership. The next year, Stratus inducted her close friend and rival Lita into the Hall of Fame.
Although she took a break from wrestling full-time, Stratus still made several significant comebacks to the ring. In 2008, she partnered with John Cena to take on Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix on Raw. In the year 2011, she participated in a celebrity match at WrestleMania 28 alongside John Morrison and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi from reality TV. In the year 2018, she participated in the inaugural all-female pay-per-view event by WWE, Evolution, teaming up with Lita to face off against Alexa Bliss and Alicia Fox.
Trish Stratus’ Return to WWE
Trish Stratus returned to WWE on a full-time basis in 2023, following a three-year break. The journey started with an unexpected arrival in August 2022, yet it wasn’t until February 2023 that Stratus made a complete return to the WWE scene. She played a crucial role in Lita and Becky Lynch winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, setting up a WrestleMania 39 match against Bayley, IYO SKY, and Dakota Kai.
However, Stratus’s return took a sudden twist when she double-crossed Lynch, once again becoming the villain. This resulted in a conflict between the pair, leading to a showdown at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, where Stratus won with assistance from Zoey Stark. The duo joined forces, but their collaboration fell apart, resulting in Stratus’ loss in a steel cage bout against Lynch at WWE Payback 2023.

Even though Trish Stratus’ latest stint in WWE ended with a loss, her reputation in the wrestling industry remains firmly established. Today, Stratus still makes appearances at fan conventions and also started her signing event called the “Bad Girl Tour,” which started in 2023. The tour will conclude in November 2024, ending with one last visit to Tampa, Florida.
In a recent event, Stratus was given recognition with a special feature on Biography: WWE Legends for the 2024 season finale. Despite not being part of WWE’s competitor roster right now, fans are still hopeful for her comeback. When asked if she would return to the ring, Stratus responded with a straightforward “Anything is possible.”
