What Professional Wrestling Is Like
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has been a major player in the professional wrestling business for more than five years. Even though AEW is still fairly new, it has been seen taking shots at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), which has made people wonder how the two companies work together. Tony Khan, President of AEW, has spoken out about what he sees as a “real war” between AEW and WWE. However, not all wrestling fans and pros agree with him.
The Voice of Nick Aldis
By talking about AEW on SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis recently gave us a clue as to why WWE doesn’t take part in this story. While talking to Gorilla Position, Aldis talked about his views on the competition scene and the reasons why WWE hasn’t recognized their foe yet.
The Promo for AJ Styles Scandal
The talk began with a recent commercial by WWE star AJ Styles. Styles talked about Cody Rhodes’s journey through different wrestling companies, such as Ring of Honor (ROH) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). He didn’t say anything about AEW, though, which is a company Rhodes helped start and run. People did notice this absence, which led to questions about WWE’s rules on talking about AEW.
WWE’s Point of View
Nick Aldis quickly made it clear that his opinions were his own and that he wasn’t a part of high-level strategy talks. He did say, though, that WWE’s silence on AEW isn’t because they want to hurt them, but because they want to avoid unnecessary strife.
“I’m not sure, and to be clear, I’m not part of the conversation at that level.” But I don’t think it’s important, and I don’t see anything particularly bad about it. What I think it’s really about is, “Hey, look, they’ve made it very clear that they’re coming at WWE a number of times.” For my part, I think the whole “war” thing is silly. “I believe it is silly on their part,” Aldis said.
Keeping from being provoked needlessly
Aldis compared it to international relations, where a country that is officially at odds with another country would not talk about its enemy in passing. He pointed out that AEW has been hostile toward WWE in the past, and from WWE’s point of view, not addressing AEW is a smart move to avoid further trouble.
“To use geopolitics as an example, if someone declares war on you, you won’t just throw their name around for no reason.” They’ve been rude at times, and the company doesn’t want to bother them because, well, we don’t want to poke the bear. That’s not what we want.
The Bigger Picture
Nick Aldis’s words show that he has a better understanding of WWE’s business decisions. By not directly mentioning AEW, WWE stays true to their goal of focusing on their product instead of making things worse. This method fits with their long-term goal of being professional and avoiding trouble that isn’t necessary and could take away from their main goal, which is to enjoy their fans.
Effects on the Future
Even though there are clear lines between WWE and AEW, both companies are still doing very well and leading the professional wrestling scene. WWE has decided not to talk about AEW, and they probably won’t change their minds as long as people think they are being hostile. This restraint may also show respect for competition by recognizing AEW’s position on WWE’s platforms without drawing too much attention to it.
What the wrestling community thought
Different people in the wrestling world have different feelings about this strategy. Some WWE fans like how serious they are, while others wish they were more like WCW and WWE were during the Monday Night Wars era. But WWE’s current plan seems to be focused on their own story, making sure they stay on track and don’t get sidetracked by outside issues.
