Nevertheless, one of his interactions outside of the camera turned out to be just as memorable, albeit in a more amusing manner. During a recent segment of the “Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw” YouTube series, Jacobs shared a funny story about how his intimidating looks caused a surprising and comical encounter with an elderly couple in a hotel.
The Big Red Machine’s Makeup Mishap
The occurrence occurred at a WWE live event tour in California. After playing a string of games, Kane was tired and looking forward to resting before his early flight the following day. In his hurry, he forgot to take off his makeup, which consisted of dark black paint around his eyes that mixed with his mask, forming a devilish appearance.
“I wanted to get back to the hotel so I could get in a few hours of sleep before I caught my flight the next day,” Jacobs explained. “So, I get done with my match, and instead of showering—and this was when I had the full mask on; I weighed 320 pounds—I would wear makeup, black paint around my eyes so that my face would blend in with the mask.”
The makeup, combined with his sweat from the match, made him look even more menacing. “The sweat would run down and the makeup would run down my face, and I would look a lot like Alice Cooper. I looked like I had mascara running down my face; I had long hair halfway down my back,” he added.
A Frightening Encounter at the Hotel
After his match, still in his intimidating makeup, Kane hurriedly changed into his workout clothes and headed to his hotel, which was conveniently located near Los Angeles International Airport. He retrieved his room key from the front desk and proceeded to his room, eager to rest. However, upon entering the room, he was met with a surprising sight.

“Without a second thought, I flung open the room door and threw my bags in, ready to retire in the bed,” Kane recounted. “That’s when I saw an elderly Japanese couple inside and realized that the hotel had given me the keys to the wrong room.”
The scene that unfolded was both comical and alarming. “Imagine a 320-pound man with long hair, wearing a tank top and shorts and mascara, has just entered your hotel room,” he described. The elderly couple, understandably terrified, began screaming in Japanese and huddled together in fear.
Damage Control
Realizing the mistake, Kane immediately apologized and tried to calm the couple down. He then returned to the front desk to address the mix-up. By this time, the hotel manager was already on the phone, possibly with the police.
Kane requested the manager not to involve the authorities and suggested offering the couple a free breakfast as a gesture of goodwill. The humorous aspect of this solution was not lost on the hosts of the show, JBL and Gerald Brisco, who laughed at the idea of a free breakfast compensating for the scare. Kane responded, “You just had ‘the Viking invader’ come into your room, but everything will be fine with a free breakfast.”
