It’s no secret that CM Punk returned to AEW after a rowdy promo and win in the first episode of Collision. With Punk so hot right now, it’s only logical that Impact capitalize on his popularity. Punk-a-palooza is on the content train, and Impact is all aboard.
Punk wrestled for TNA from 2002 to 2004. Most of you have probably never seen these matches before.
A cage match between CM Punk, Raven, & Julio Dinero against Abyss, Kevin Northcutt, & Joe E. Legend was held on December 17, 2003.
Terry Funk & Raven vs. CM Punk & Julio Dinero (Feb. 18, 2004)
Ace Steel & CM Punk vs. Derek Wylde & Jimmy Rave vs. Cassidy O’Reilly & Chase Stevens (September 18, 2002)
Johnny Swinger, Kid Romeo, & Damien Dothart vs. CM Punk, Frankie Kazarian, & Matt Stryker (June 4, 2003)
Shane Douglas vs. (July 2, 2003) CM Punk in Clockwork Orange House of Fun
In the first match, Punk’s coolest moment revolved around a flying elbow drop off the top of the cage through two tables. A controversy erupted after the finish when Punk and Dinero turned on Raven to hit him with the conchairto.
Punk and Dinero held Raven up to shoot a stun gun. Funk barreled over to intercept the shock, sending an electric shock through his own body.
In both the third and fourth matches, Punk was just a body with so many wrestlers in the ring.
Against Douglas, the fifth and final match was a doozy. Clockwork Orange House of Fun was my favorite because Punk performed a neat move holding a chair while executing a Northern Lights suplex, which caused Douglas to land on steel. Punk was hit with a fireball by Mitchell after the match.
