What happened
Elimination Chamber in Chicago did its job as the last stop on the Road to WrestleMania. Rhea Ripley won the women’s Chamber to earn her WrestleMania 42 match with Jade Cargill, which she won, and Randy Orton won the men’s Chamber by pinning Cody Rhodes with an RKO — a result that set up their Undisputed WWE title match at WrestleMania.
AJ Lee’s submission win over Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental title paid off the women’s WarGames finish from Survivor Series, where Lee made Lynch tap. Lynch won the title back at WrestleMania 42, so the series ended 1–1 in title matches.
Our take
pinning the champion inside the Chamber is the cleanest way to build a challenger, and Orton winning in Rhodes’ presence made their WrestleMania match personal. CM Punk retaining against Finn Bálor in his adopted home city was the correct crowd-pleaser; the match exists to keep Punk strong on the way to his WrestleMania loss to Roman Reigns.
