What happened
NXT on October 13 set the top of the Halloween Havoc card. Tony D’Angelo beat Myles Borne for an NXT Championship match after Borne was distracted by a cameraman, who turned out to be Tavion Heights; Heights then put Borne through the announce table. General manager Robert Stone also lifted Wren Sinclair’s suspension and named her No. 1 contender to the NXT Women’s title.
Tournament watch: NXT Tag Team Champions The Vanity Project and the team of Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno advanced in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Champions entering the Dusty Classic is unusual and creates a clear path to a champions-versus-winners match later in the season.
Our take
the cameraman reveal is old-school misdirection done well, and it gives Borne a reason to stay in the title picture after losing the contender’s match. AAA’s Reina de Reinas title being defended on NXT is a sign of how closely WWE and AAA now share talent.
