What happened
Worlds End 2025 closed AEW’s year with two big title changes. MJF won the AEW World Championship for the second time by winning a four-way over champion Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page, and Jon Moxley beat Kazuchika Okada in the Continental Classic final to take the Continental Championship.
Moxley’s tournament was the best story of the night. He went through Kyle Fletcher by technical submission in the semifinal and Okada in the final on the same show, two hard matches totalling more than 40 minutes. He held the Continental title through All In 2026, where he beat Nigel McGuinness in the Continental Challenge Cup.
Our take
four-way world title matches are a shortcut, and this one existed to get the belt onto MJF without beating anyone cleanly. It worked for business — MJF is AEW’s best talker — but his second reign ended when Darby Allin beat him in April 2026, and the stretch that followed saw the title change hands four times in five months.
