What happened
The final Dynamite before WrestleDream filled out the eight-man Clockwork Carnage world title match. Adam Copeland, Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, Ricochet and Darby Allin all won qualifiers, with Okada and Allin defending their own titles in the process.
The champion lost the tag match: Samoa Joe and Tommaso Ciampa beat AEW World Champion Will Ospreay and his All In challenger Andrade El Ídolo, giving Joe a win over the champion three days before the eight-man title match.
Our take
putting the champion in an eight-man match and then pinning him on the go-home show is the right way to build doubt. It worked: Ospreay retained at WrestleDream only by scoring three eliminations and a Hidden Blade at the buzzer.
