What happened
Final Battle 2025 in Columbus put the ROH World Championship on the line in a six-man Survival of the Fittest elimination match, and Bandido came out still champion after eliminating Hechicero last.
The match of the night was the Iron Man. Lee Moriarty and Nigel McGuinness — ROH’s original Pure Champion — finished 30 minutes tied 4–4 before Moriarty won in sudden death. Pure Wrestling Rules matches are ROH’s identity, and this was the best argument for keeping them.
Our take
Red Velvet beating Mercedes Moné for the Women’s TV title was the right kind of upset for ROH: it built a homegrown champion at the expense of a star who did not need the belt. Deonna Purrazzo becoming the first Women’s Pure Champion gives the division a technical-wrestling title that suits her better than anyone.
