What happened
Undisputed status — all four major belts at once — has become boxing’s most valuable currency, and 2025 delivered four undisputed title fights. Terence Crawford’s decision win over Canelo Álvarez at Allegiant Stadium was the biggest: it made Crawford undisputed in a third weight class, and he retired later that year.
The heavyweight title is split again. Oleksandr Usyk knocked out Daniel Dubois at Wembley in July 2025 to become two-time undisputed champion, then gave the belts up one by one: the WBO in November 2025 and the WBA, WBC and IBF in June 2026. In 2026 the belts went to Agit Kabayel (WBC, elevated), Daniel Dubois (WBO, by beating Fabio Wardley) and Filip Hrgovic (IBF, by stopping Moses Itauma).
Our take
the next undisputed heavyweight fight is at least two unifications away, and the promoters involved do not all work together. Hrgovic has already called for Dubois and Kabayel. The most realistic first step is Dubois vs. Hrgovic II for the WBO and IBF belts — Hrgovic lost their first fight in 2024 on cuts — while Naoya Inoue remains the most reliable undisputed champion in the sport.
