A fan's guide
Las Vegas in December brings 30 or so programs to one venue for two days, and many early-season rankings are reset by its results. It is also one of the most popular tournaments to attend in person, with the action spread across several mats at once.

Our take
Las Vegas in December is the most entertaining tournament of the first half of the season, but its results come with a caveat: not every top program sends its full lineup, and some wrestlers are still cutting toward their March weight.
Iowa State's 84.5-point margin in 2025 was nonetheless a statement, and it is a reminder that the CKLV is where many programs make their first move in the rankings.
