Survivor Series began in 1987 as a night of elimination tag team matches. Since 2022 it has been branded Survivor Series: WarGames. The 2026 edition is set for November 28 at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas.
Survivor Series was created in 1987 around elimination tag team matches — teams of four or five, with wrestlers eliminated one at a time until one side remains. Since 2022 the show has been built around WarGames: two rings inside a roofed cage, with team members entering at timed intervals before the match can be won.
That gives Survivor Series a distinct identity as WWE's team-warfare event, and it is the last major show of WWE's calendar year.

A fan's guide
WarGames is the main reason to watch, and the build is what makes it work: teams are formed on Raw and SmackDown over the three weeks after Crown Jewel, and the 'advantage' — which team gets the extra entrant in the cage — is usually decided in a match the week before. Watch for those advantage matches, because they often decide the outcome.
Survivor Series 2026 is outdoors at Daikin Park in Houston, and late-November weather in Texas is usually mild. As WWE's final premium live event of the year, it also tends to set up the Royal Rumble.
Our take
WarGames gave Survivor Series a reason to exist again after years as a brand-versus-brand afterthought. The format suits factional storylines, and WWE in 2025–26 has more factions than at any time in a decade.
Our only reservation is volume. Two 40-minute WarGames matches on one card in 2025 diluted both; one WarGames main event, supported by singles title matches, is the stronger structure.
