Will Ospreay became AEW World Champion for the first time at All In at Wembley Stadium on August 30, 2026, beating Kenny Omega with the Hidden Blade in the main event in front of a home crowd.

It was the 20th reign in the title’s history and the climax of a summer-long story: Ospreay beat Samoa Joe in the Owen Hart Foundation quarterfinals at Double or Nothing in May and Swerve Strickland in the final at Forbidden Door in June, earning the title shot he converted at Wembley.

Omega had held the title for only 53 days when he lost it; his first reign, from December 2020 to November 2021, was one of the most celebrated in AEW history. The title changed hands four times between April and August 2026, the most volatile stretch it has seen.

The rest of All In

Seven championships changed hands at Wembley, including Mercedes Moné‘s Women’s World title win over Willow Nightingale, Darby Allin’s TNT title win over Kevin Knight in a Falls Count Anywhere match, and Kazuchika Okada’s International title win in a three-way with Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita. Andrade El Ídolo won the Casino Gauntlet to become Ospreay’s first No. 1 contender.

Our take

Ospreay at Wembley was the obvious booking, and obvious does not mean wrong. He is the best British wrestler of his generation, he had earned the shot through a tournament, and Omega was the right opponent: a former champion respected enough that beating him made the win feel earned.

The question now is stability. After four title changes in four months, AEW needs a champion who holds the belt through the autumn, and Ospreay’s first defense — the eight-man Clockwork Carnage match at WrestleDream on October 17 — suggests that is the plan.

Seven title changes is the most on any AEW show, and it reflects the company’s approach to All In: a season finale that resets every division for the autumn. The downside is that several champions — Kevin Knight, Maya World — held their titles only briefly.

Ospreay vs. Omega: the history

Ospreay and Omega have one of the deepest rivalries in modern wrestling, built in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where both held the IWGP heavyweight title, and continued in AEW. Their Wembley match settled the rivalry’s AEW chapter in Ospreay’s favour, at the moment and in the city that meant the most to him.
