Strongman contests mix maximum strength, strength endurance and speed. These are the events you will see most often.
Atlas stones
Heavy round stones lifted onto platforms in sequence. Usually the final event at World's Strongest Man, and a test of grip, back and hip power.
Log press
A thick log with neutral handles, cleaned to the shoulders and pressed overhead, for maximum weight or repetitions.
Deadlift
Deadlifts appear as max attempts, reps, or with car frames and axle bars. Some contests allow straps and lifting suits.
Yoke and farmer’s walk
The yoke is a frame carried across the shoulders; the farmer’s walk is carried in the hands. Both are timed over a set distance.
Vehicle pulls
Athletes pull trucks, buses or planes by harness and rope over a course as fast as possible.
How contests are scored
Athletes earn points by placing in each event, and the highest total wins.
