Leon Slater is TNA World Champion. Using his Option C title challenge, Slater pinned Nic Nemeth in the main event of Bound for Glory 2026 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa on October 11, ending Nemeth’s second reign three and a half months after he won the title from Mike Santana at Slammiversary.

It was one of five title changes on TNA’s biggest night of the year, a show that refreshed almost every championship in the company.

A night for new faces

Amazing Red, inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame earlier in the evening alongside Konnan and ODB, won the vacant X Division title in a seven-way scramble — a fitting night for one of the division’s original stars. Indi Hartwell’s Knockouts title win and Jason Hotch’s International title win both went to wrestlers who had not held those belts before.

Frankie Kazarian won the Call Your Shot Gauntlet, which gives him a title match of his choosing at any time; with Slater a new champion, the World title is the obvious target.

Our take

TNA made the boldest decision available to it. Nemeth is a former WWE world champion and the safe choice; Slater is a young high-flyer whose style is the best advertisement for TNA’s X Division heritage. Putting the top title on him is a statement that TNA wants to build its future around wrestlers it made.

The risk is that Slater’s size and style are harder to position as a long-term champion than a heavyweight’s. The answer is booking: give him two or three clean defenses against established names before Kazarian’s Call Your Shot comes into play.

Grade: A-. Five title changes that all made sense, and a main event that changes the company’s direction.

Three champions in one year, each representing a different idea of TNA: Santana the homegrown everyman, Nemeth the former WWE world champion, and Slater the young high-flyer the company wants to build around.
