What happened
Money in the Bank in New Orleans handed out two briefcases and one title. Penta won the men’s ladder match over a field that included CM Punk and Kevin Owens, Tiffany Stratton won the women’s match, and Liv Morgan won the Women’s World Championship from Stephanie Vaquer in a triple threat that also included Becky Lynch.
Penta is the right choice. He held the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 42 and lost it to Chad Gable at SummerSlam; a briefcase gives him a guaranteed world title match whenever he chooses, which keeps him at the top of the card without needing a long feud. The men’s field also tells a story: Punk, Owens and Je’Von Evans all lost here, and Sami Zayn blamed exactly those three for targeting him on the following SmackDown.
Morgan now heads to Crown Jewel on November 7 to face WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green for the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship.
Our take
giving Tiffany Stratton the women’s briefcase again is a safer pick than it looks, because a cash-in on Liv Morgan or Chelsea Green would give WWE an instant title change at any show it needs one. Roman Reigns over LA Knight was the least surprising result of the night and was booked that way; it moved Reigns on to the Crown Jewel Championship match with SmackDown’s champion.
